"I love this first collection from The Brett Martens String Band. The cover painting is of a wonderfully bright Hornby Island landscape, by Graham Herbert. An exercise in complementary color and proportion, the cover simply looks like a really good time, and that is exactly what you get with this CD. The ten cuts take one on a poetic and fantastic musical tour.

The instrumental trio of Brett Martens on lead guitar, Tim Croft on double bass, and Jim Lambert on rhythm guitar have recorded four standards and six great Martens originals (which include an improvised solo piece, a waltz, a Latin piece and the excellent opener entitled Take One.)
